Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) is a one-year life insurance scheme renewable from year to year offering coverage for death due to any reason. Eligibility All individual account holders of participating banks/ Post office in the age group of 18 to 50 years are eligible to join. In case of multiple bank / Post office accounts held by an individual in one or different banks/ Post office, the person is eligible to join the scheme through one bank/Post office account only. Premium Rs. 436 per annum. It will be auto-debited in one instalment. Payment Mode The payment of premium will be directly auto-debited by the bank from the subscribers account. Risk Coverage Rs.2 Lakh in case of death for any reason. Terms of Risk Coverage A person has to opt for the scheme every year. He can also prefer to give a long-term option of continuing, in which case his account will be auto-debited every year by the bank. Who implements this Scheme? The scheme is offered through Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and other Life insurance companies willing to offer the product on similar terms with necessary approvals and tie ups with Banks / Post office for this purpose. How to enrol for the scheme Enrolments under the scheme can be done by visiting the branch/ BC point or website of the bank of the account holder or at the post office in case of post office savings bank account. Once an individual inputs the basic details of the bank account, the requisite data is automatically fetched from the Banks through secure integration.
