ISC is a biennial national competition dedicated to showcasing and honing the skills of Indian youth. It is organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India and implemented by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). It aims to identify, nurture, and reward talented individuals in various skills, trades and occupations, aligning Indian skill standards with global benchmarks. In 2016, National Skill Competition – IndiaSkills Competition was announced and launched. Why Participate in IndiaSkills IndiaSkills is popularly known as the Olympics of Skills, a prestigious national platform. Winners get the incredible opportunity to represent India in WorldSkills competitions. No formal qualifications or degrees are required; your talent is your only credential. Eligibility is solely based on age, making it accessible to a wide range of skilled individuals. Many skills are Team Skills, fostering collaboration and shared success. All participation expenses are covered by the Government, ensuring no financial burden on you. Gain recognition for your skills at the State, National, and World levels. Benefit from free boot camp trainings to further refine your expertise. Eligibility to participate in IndiaSkills Eligibility is based solely on your birth date. The minimum age to participate in ISC is 16 at the time of ISC National scheduled. The maximum age to participate in ISC is 22 or 25 based on the Skill category. The final age limits would be as prescribed by WorldSkills International for each Skills. No formal degrees or academic qualifications are required Registration is free. All expenses, including training, travel, accommodation, and food during regional, national, and international stages, are fully sponsored and covered by the Government. Skills covered The skills at ISC are mapped under six (6) major categories as listed below: Construction and Building Technology Creative Arts and Fashion Information and Communication Technology Manufacturing and Engineering Technology Social and Personal Services Transportation and Logistics What are the different competitive stages? The competition progresses across four main stages: UT/State Level: Initial selection within Jammu & Kashmir. Regional Level: Competitors face winners from other states in the region. National Level (IndiaSkills): Regional winners compete to become national champions. World Level (WorldSkills): National champions undergo rigorous training to represent India globally.
